Tennessee head coach Matt Kredich recently announced the hiring of Lance Asti as an assistant coach. This move completes Kredich’s first staff of the newly combined men’s and women’s swimming program.
"Lance Asti is one of the brightest, most respected, and most accomplished assistant coaches in the country," Kredich said."He's a fantastic role model and is known as an innovative and energetic teacher.Lance's character, expertise, and competitiveness will make him a tremendous addition to our program."
Asti most recently comes from LSU, where he served as the recruiting coordinator and sprint coach. During his time with the Tigers the men’s team finished in the top five in the SEC both years and the women’s team experienced their best performances since 1993 and 1994.
As a student-athlete Asti swam for the Vols from 1998-2001, where he earned honorable mention All-American awards and was a finalist for the SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Scholarship.
"Lance is also a Vol for Life," added Kredich. "He was a model student athlete when he swam here and his wife Lizzy is also of the all time great Lady Vol student athletes. I'm thrilled to have them back in Knoxville."
