News.com.au reports that on October 30th, police units were called to the Melbourne, Australia home of Olympic legend Grant Hackett. Reports state that the 5-time Olympic medalist’s apartment in Southbank was found to be in mass disarray, including a grand piano overturned.
When questioned about the incident Hackett communicated a denial that his home was trashed, stating that he and his wife, singer Candice Alley, were “overwhelmingly embarrassed” by the events that had taken place. “The events of Saturday evening were very much unfortunate and out of character for me,” Hackett further commented to the Herald Sun. “I am overwhelmingly embarrassed and apologetic and look forward to putting this incident behind us.”
In an interview with the Nine Network, Hackett said there was “a lot of speculation” about what happened, and that the couple was dealing with issues before police arrived.
“We came home and had a few private issues that we needed to deal with and we’ve dealt with those,” Hackett said. “Candice is 100 percent okay, our apartment is 100 percent okay and so are our twins (Jagger and Charlize). It’s all a bit of a misunderstanding that we have to deal with. But everything is O.K., our relationship is great and everything in our apartment is okay as well.”
Victoria police are currently investigating the incident, where charges are not expected to be laid.
