Cowboyaltitude.com reports that David Schmitt, 22 a senior at the University of Wyoming was found dead yesterday morning at War Memorial Stadium. He was set to graduate.
According to police it appears that Schmitt was attempting to climb into the stadium and fell through a narrow gap at the top of the lower level on the west side of the stadium.
All of the stadium’s gates are locked at night which leaves police unsure as to how Schmitt was able to gain access to the stadium.
In regards to this tragedy UW President Tom Buchanan said, “We are shocked and saddened to learn of David's death. The death of a student is always tragic, but it is even more difficult to comprehend on a day when the university is celebrating a new beginning for our graduating students. We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends."
