Dover High School’s Noah Rinehart put on a remarkable show in the pool Thursday night against visiting New Oxford.

On June 23, 2006, during a routine workout, Noah hit the bottom of the pool while diving off the blocks, resulting in a fracture in his neck. That fracture caused paralysis from the mid-chest down.

Despite his injury Noah has continued to swim with the Dover team in varsity swim meets.

“In the short 29 years I have been coaching, I am not sure if any of our individual or team accomplishments for Dover Area High School match up to Noah’s accomplishment tonight”, said Dover head coach Richard Janosky.

In Dover’s 120.5 - 62.5 win over New Oxford Noah participated in the 500 yard freestyle and finished with a time of 23:53.27 seconds.

Dover’s meet next weekend vs. York Suburban will be Noah’s last varsity swim meet. He will graduate in June.

"In speaking for my entire coaching staff, team and SCHOOL, I would like to say that Noah has been an inspiration for all and a pleasure to coach and have as a teammate,” Janosky said.
