Indiana University has announced that long time women’s assistant coach Pam Swander has resigned.

Swander has decided to take a coaching job with the SwimMac club team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Indiana head coach Ray Looze released a statement saying, “Coach Swander has contributed greatly to both our women's and men's swimming teams here at Indiana over the last five years. I am very pleased that all Pam's hard work and our successes at IU put her in a position to have such a wonderful coaching opportunity. She is a good friend, a lifelong Hoosier and we all wish her the very best at SwimMac."

The IU news release reports, “In addition to serving as an assistant coach with SwimMac, Swander will also be responsible for the leadership and administration of the operational plan, budget, facilities (operations and/or relationships), and staff supervision of coaches, auxiliary program staff, and swim instructors of the Northern Regions of SwimMac.

During her time at IU the women’s team won three Big Ten championships. Swander was also directly involved with Indiana’s first NCAA women’s champion Kate Fesenko (200-yard backstroke in 2010), 2006 USA Swimming National Champion Leila Vaziri (100m backstroke), and 2006 Canadian National Champion Kristen Bradley (400m IM).

A search for Swander’s replacement will begin immediately.
