Davidson College head coach John Young announced today the hiring of Amy Krakauer to the Wildcat coaching staff.
Head coach John Young said, “I am delighted to introduce Amy Krakauer as the newest member of the Davidson swimming and diving family. Her experiences, both as a student-athlete and as a professional, make her a unique and impressive fit for our program.”
“Coach Krakauer is familiar with the perspective necessary to be successful in a rigorous academic setting. As our student-athletes aspire to ever-greater successes, I am confident that Army will be a tremendous resource and mentor.”
Krakauer most recently comes from Colgate University where she served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons. While with the Raiders she coached the middle distance and stroke swimmers. During her time with the program her swimmers achieved 231 personal best times, 22 Patriot League records, 27 school records, 15 NCAA B-cut times and one Patriot League Championship.
Krakauer’s coaching experience goes beyond college coaching as she spent 2006-2007 working at Nike Swimming Camps and 2005-2008 as the head coach of Columbia’s Masters Swimming program.
As an athlete Krakauer was a former team captain, was a NCAA Sportsmanship Award Ivy League nominee in 2006, Coaches Award winner in 2005 and 2006, earned First-Team All-Ivy honors in 2008, and earned Academic All –Ivy honors in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
