It has been reported that triple Olympic gold medalist Libby Trickett will be coming out of retirement with the hope of making Australia’s 2012 Olympic team.
A little over a year ago Trickett announced that she would be taking a break from the sport and then later announced her official retirement in December.
Trickett had been toying with the idea of a comeback for quite some time but when watching last month’s Pan Pacific championships things became clear for her.
When speaking to Australian television networks Trickett said, “Throughout the course of this year there were little things that made me miss it. Just the smell of the pool during race time, just things that [recalled] my memories.”
“I guess I was just ready to test myself again and really I just want to see how far I can take my swimming and see how fast I can get.”
Trickett currently has 3 Olympic gold medals, has held 3 individual world records, and has won 15 World Championships.
