Defiance College Adds Men's And Women's Swimming

Defiance College announced today that they will be adding men’s and women’s swimming for the 2011-2012 season.
Defiance College President Mark Gordon said, “I am thrilled that we will now be able to offer swimming and diving for our students at Defiance College. We very much want to expand opportunities for all DC students, and this is just one of the many ways in which we are doing just that. I am confident that our swimming and diving teams will continue our longstanding tradition of dedicated student-athletes who are successful in the classroom, in athletic pursuits and in life.”
The Yellow Jackets will begin a full varsity schedule in the winter of the 2011-2012 and will use the Defiance Area Y for practices and home meets.
President Gordon added, “I am very grateful to Glenn Kuhn and the Defiance Y for working with us to help make these teams a reality.”
Glen Kuhn, who is the executive director at the Defiance Y, added “The partnerships between Defiance College and the Defiance Area Y to provide a competitive swimming program for DC utilizing the YMCA facilities is another example of collaboration to use community resources to enhance both programs.”
The Defiance swim team is one of only a few institutions in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference to offer swimming and diving.
