This interview is with the Ray's Brad Allison. Brad has had what many people would call the ultimate breakout year. He was recently listed on the National top ten times list for his 100fr & 200fr, swam 5 AAAA time standards at the Virginia Age Group Championships, and currently holds 9 Club & Summer League records.

In this SwimUtopia interview we learn what motivates Brad and what he lists as some of his goals for this upcoming season.

What club do you swim for?
Rappahannock YMCA RAYS

What grade are you in?
8th

What age group do you compete in?
I competed in 11-12 age group all season. As of August 13 I will now be swimming 13-14.

What are some of your goals for this upcoming season?
Some of my upcoming goals include Qualifying for YMCA Nationals and winning all the freestyle events at Virginia Age Group Champs


What is the biggest meet that you have qualified for so far?
The Biggest meet I have qualified for so far would have to be Short Course and Long Course Zones this year.

What would you say have been some of your biggest accomplishments so far in swimming?
Being on the National top ten times in two events 200free and 100free

What are your top times?

100free LC 59.21 (not sure exactly)

What motivates you day in and day out?
I would have to say that I want to be on top. I want to be the best I can and to do that I have to work hard every set every practice all year long.

What do your coaches do to help set you up for success in and out of the pool?
My coaches help me with nutrition and goal setting.

What would you say is the hardest practice that you have ever done?
The hardest practice would have to be when we did a IM set. I do not.


What is your favorite pump-up band or artist to listen to before racing?
Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem

What are some things that people may not know about you?
People may not know that I love music. If I didn’t swim so much I would play all sorts of instruments.

I had all A’s and one B+ to finish the year in school
