According to Swimmingworldmagazine.com Vlad Morozov of Torrance has broken current University of Texas superstar Jimmy Feigen’s 50 freestyle High School National Record which was set back in 2008.
Morozov broke Feigen’s old mark of 19.49 with a new record setting time of 19.43. He set the new mark as the lead off leg of his team’s 200-yard freestyle relay. The new record setting time is also well ahead of the Independent School record of 19.74 which is held by McDonogh’s Giles Smith.
He was able to do this even after having his heat called back because a spectator yelled just before the start of the meet. Morozov said, “I’m surprised I went 19.43.”
